1. The Yankees bullpen is full of flamethrowers.  Yankees relievers have thrown a fastball 100 mph or harder 276 more times than any other bullpen in the Majors.  Chapman, Betances, Green, and Kahnle (not to mention starter Luis Severino) have all touched 100 this year and are all on the roster for this game.

  1. The Yankees bullpen is insanely good, but Ervin Santana can be just as tough if the Yankees let him get deep into the game. Santana tied Corey Kluber for the Major League lead in both complete games (5) and shutouts (3).  Aside from those two pitchers, nobody in the Majors had more than two complete games this year.  Additionally, Remarkable! has this to say about Santana’s late inning prowess:

Opponents are hitting .125 against Ervin Santana (10-for-80) in close and late situations this season (Rank: 2nd of 81 qualified SPs in MLB; League Avg: .263)

  1. Aaron Judge hits the ball hard.  Well, of course he does!  But did you know that of balls put in play, he averaged 3.4% more well-hit than anybody else in the league? (minimum 200 balls in play)

  1. The Twins need to avoid allowing the Yankees a big inning. Straight from the mouth of Remarkable!:

The Yankees have scored three or more runs in an inning in 8.0% of their innings played (116/1,441) this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB; League Avg: 6.0%).

  1. The Yankees are kings of the big inning, but the Twins are a threat to push a run across at any time. They lead the Majors by scoring in at least three different innings in 62.2% of their games in the second half.
